Damon Casarez (b. 1987) is a Los Angeles–based portrait and documentary photographer whose work spans editorial, commercial, and long-term personal projects exploring memory, identity, and place. After earning his BFA in Photography and Imaging from ArtCenter College of Design in 2012, he began his career as a freelance editorial photographer, creating portraits and photo essays for The New York Times Magazine, TIME, WIRED, and Bloomberg Businessweek. His 2014 series Boomerang Kids became a New York Times Magazine cover story and helped launch his editorial career.

Casarez received his MFA in Art Practice from Stanford University in 2025. His thesis project, Rites of Passage, restages childhood memories through a near-documentary aesthetic to reflect on assimilation and belonging. In Fall 2025, his work was featured in Escenas at NYU’s Latinx Project, a solo exhibition at Los Angeles Southwest College, and Concrete Hope at Santa Monica College. He continues to work editorially and commercially alongside his art practice.
